North Street, Hingham, MA 02043 Downtown Hingham has started a new tradition, the First Friday of every month our Downtown will come alive. Stores will open their doors and will offer refreshments and snacks to customers. This is a great way celebrate our historic downtown and have some fun as a community. Live music will be provided courtesy of The Fruit Center Marketplace.

Art Appraisal Day at South Street Gallery

South Street Gallery will once again offer its "Art Appraisal Day" on Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hingham resident Arthur Garrity, a professional fine art appraiser, will offer verbal appraisals at the Gallery at 149 South Street. Etchings, prints or original oil or watercolor paintings may be submitted for review. There is a fee of $15 per one appraisal, $25 for two appraisals or $33 for three appraisals, with all of the proceeds supporting the fundraising event “Roam the Tomes” on October 3rd at the Hingham Public Library. There is a limit of three items per customer per visit. Please, call 781-749-0430 to make an appointment.

Cedar Hill Jazz/Rock/Pop Festival


South Shore Conservatory presents the Cedar Hill JRP Festival, an entire weekend of the best rock, roots, jazz, indie-rock, modern jazz, world beat, blues... on the South Shore, on September 20/21 in the Jane Carr Amphitheater at One Conservatory Drive in Hingham.

Sponsored by Chateau Edmus, the festival features the varied talents of its own jazz/rock/pop (JRP) department faculty members. A Friday night kickoff party at a private home starts the weekend off. (Visit for details.)

Saturday’s Festival line-up includes the Jones River Band at 1 pm, Boompa at 2 pm, Jon Jarvis Trio at 3:30 pm, Rakalam Bob Moses at 5 pm, and headliners Sugar Ray and the Bluetones at 7 pm. Sunday’s line-up includes Till We’re Both Dizzy, at 2 pm, the Timo Shanko/Ed Broms Quartet at 3 pm, and Barricades at 4 pm. The festival ends with the entire JRP faculty on stage performing at 5:30 pm.
