The Hingham Journal

The Hingham Journal, which dates back to 1827, continues to report on Hingham government, schools, sports politics & the community. We have been in the historic Hingham Journal Building since 1899 when then publisher Fred H. Miller moved his expanding newspaper business into its new building here at 73 South St., at that time your hometown newspaper had already existed for nearly 72 years. When the Journal went to press here in those days the building visibly shook from the two-and-a half-ton 1892-model Hoe hand-fed drum cylindrical press. Its roar could be heard across the street.

Launch 2 is a state approved, CBDS day based work program for young adults with disabilities, located in Hingham Square. Our mission is to assist and train our clients to have meaningful and purposeful participation in every aspect of community life thru paid and unpaid internships and volunteerism at local businesses and organizations.

Hingham Cemetery is an active cemetery and beautiful arboretum with many lots still available. The Ames Chapel, a fully restored Queen Anne-style building, is available at modest cost to local groups for functions, meetings, receptions and performances. The 3rd oldest farmers’ market in MA. Meets weekly at the Hingham Bathing Beach. 35-40 vendors/week featuring fresh local fruits and vegetables, seafood, poultry, beef, baked goods and processed food items.

The Hingham Historical Society, founded in 1914, is a member-supported non-profit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting the history of the town of Hingham, Massachusetts. South Shore SNAP (Special Needs Athletic Partnership) is a non-profit organization which offers athletic and recreational programs for children and young adults with special needs. Our programs are held during after-school hours and on weekends. South Shore SNAP also offers a five-week, afternoon Summer Program held at South Shore Country Club.
St. Paul’s Church

This Roman Catholic Community was established in 1871.
